Many people have a great deal of goodwill towards their church, although they may not necessarily be regular churchgoers. A lot of parishes throughout the country are exploring the idea of setting up a 'Friends Scheme' to assist in ensuring that their Parish Church is in a fit state to hand on to the next generation.

In view of the general interest shown in and around Bourne End in our Parish Church St Mark's, it was decided at a Rectory Meeting in September 1996, to form a society to be known as 'The Friends of St Mark's Bourne End'.

It's aims are:-

(1) In co-operation with the Priest in Charge, Churchwardens and Parochial Church Council assist in maintaining St Mark's as a living Parish Church in Bourne End both now and for future generations.

(2) To keep in touch with those people who whilst not regular churchgoers, have reason to be grateful for the continued existence of our Parish Church, or feel it to be an essential part of our heritage.
